A few weeks ago we were given the opportunity to review some toys from the brilliant online toy retailer Wicked Uncle. Wicked Uncle is slightly different to normal online toy retailers in that they really focus on toys that spark imagination, are educational and are not restricted by gender boundaries (although there is the option to search for toys according to gender should you so wish).
As G was just about to celebrate her Third birthday I picked two items that I knew she would love – one to push her mentally, and one I knew she would get a lot of use with when in the garden. I also made sure that I picked items that M could enjoy using too.
First up was the Gears Beginner’s Building Set. This brightly coloured interlocking gear set has given both kiddies hours of fun. While G has enjoyed building a basic flat lay of interlocking gears her older brother quickly progressed onto more advanced options, and after a few attempts was constructing tall rotating towers.
We found the instructions that came with the set easy to understand, and the kit itself to be very high quality. The only negative I have with it is that the interlocking base boards are very hard to lock together. Both myself and R have struggled with this, so it’s nigh on impossible for the kiddies to do. However, with that in mind, it does mean that once you have managed to lock the base boards together the chances of them coming apart once they have been loaded with the gears are very slim, which is brilliant.
The second item we chose was the Children’s Garden Tool set. I knew G would love this the minute I saw it, especially as we have just dug and planted a vegetable patch, so she can help me whenever I’m tending to it. The Children’s Garden Tool Set comes with a brightly coloured watering can, trowel, hand rake and fork. They have a little waterproof carrying bag which is just gorgeous, and the tools fit in perfectly.
The kiddies have really enjoyed playing with their new toys from Wicked Uncle, and I have to say I have genuinely been impressed at the quality level of the toys too. Ordering from the Wicked Uncle website was a breeze, and I particularly liked that you have the option to add gift wrap and a personalised message to your order if you wish.
We have a lot of children’s birthdays coming up over the next couple of months, and I think it’s safe to say we will be heading to the Wicked Uncle site for birthday presents from now on.
Disclaimer: We were provided with a voucher to spend at Wicked Uncle, however, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
