Me & Mine July 2016

I have been meaning to join in with the Me & Mine project for so long now, but actually getting the four of us to sit still long enough to take a family photo is nigh on impossible. In fact the last time I managed to take a photo of us all together was three years ago when G was just a few weeks old.

But two weeks ago, whilst on holiday, I managed to get that all elusive Lewis family group shot and I knew at that point that I had to link up to Me & Mine this month! Okay, only two out of the four (the adults) are actually looking at the camera, and of the other two one is looking at her image on the phone that I am using as the remote and the other one is thinking about ice cream apparently , but I’m still going to take the shot as a win!

The elusive Lewis family group photo

The photo was taken on the last night of our holiday, and it was the first time I had taken any photos that week, bar a quick snap of the woodland when we arrived. Switching off from all things tech did us the world of good – I have written more about this here. It was our first holiday in two years and it couldn’t have come at the better time as we were all feeling quite drained after a stressful few weeks.

Note to self: It’s pointless trying to take a photo with the kiddies when there’s ice cream to be eaten!

One of the reasons we went on holiday was celebrate M’s birthday who turned 5 the day before we went away. I spent a fair chunk of that week looking at him and muttering to myself ‘I have a Five year old, how did that happen?’ – because it only feels like yesterday he was taking his first steps!

Time definitely passes by too quickly when you have children, and just recently I have become very aware that I haven’t been very good at documenting not just the milestones, but also many of the ordinary moments too (another fabulous linky I may have to join with!)

M & G have changed so much over the past year. M started his reception year at school last September and the difference between the little boy he was, and the boy he has become in the space of 11 months amazes me.

It’s much the same with G, too. When she started nursery last September there were concerns about her speech being delayed, but she has come on in leaps and bounds recently, which is fantastic. Her character is really coming through too – she is such a cheeky little thing, with a wicked sense of humour. She is absolutely the boss of us all, and she knows it too. 😉

The concerned look on M’s face is due to the goose just out of shot that was taking an interest in his ice cream!

So, this is our first Me & Mine attempt – I now have 31 days in which to try to take a better group shot, but to honest if my next photo is similar to this one I will still be pleased as that means we are happy and content.

Switching off from all things tech sounds amazing, need to work on that one with my husband! I really love your photos, I think often the less posed ones are just the best ones! They really show personalities! Hope you manage to link up next month too!

Thank you so much! I can’t recommend switching off from the tech enough – it was hard to start off with but after a few hours I didn’t miss it all! Xxx

Thank you – it’s a nightmare trying to get the four of us looking at the camera at the same time! xxx
