Once again I am linking up with Stevie from A Cornish Mum as part of her Liked and Loved Linky. I should have written this at the end of August but hey, better late than never!
Can you believe the summer is over? It really did feel as if August flew past by at a rate of knots. And while it has been a good summer I am definitely looking forward to the changing seasons, and the return to normality and slightly more structured days. But before I get too excited about autumn, here is a little run down of everything we got up to in August.
Looking Back at August
August started the way July ended – on holiday in North Norfolk. We had such a lovely week exploring parts of Norfolk that I hadn’t been to in years, including Wells-Next-The-Sea, Walsingham, and Brancaster Beach.
A few days after returning from holidays I headed into Norwich with the kids. Typically that was one of the two days it rained here over summer, but we had fun regardless. We spent an afternoon hunting for GoGoHares and shopping before meeting Rob for dinner.
The following week Rob and I had a much-needed date night. We had been invited to Bowling House in the city for a fun evening of food, cocktails and bowling. It was such a great night, and we can’t wait to go back soon. You can read my review of Bowling House here.
By this point we were three weeks into the school holidays and, I’m not going to lie, I was in need of a little ‘Me Time’. Thankfully that ‘Me Time’ came in the form of an invite to the opening of The Ivy Brasserie for a ‘bloggers breakfast’. It was so lovely to meet some other local bloggers and, of course, have a look around the restaurant and sample some amazing food.
The last couple of weeks of the school holiday was pretty quiet. A planned trip to Cambridge, and then on to see family was cancelled, so we spent some time at home and visiting places locally, including our favourite Felbrigg Hall.
It’s been a pretty relaxed summer, with a lot of down time at home. We are not a family that is into cramming every single moment with exciting days out, although that’s not to say we don’t like going on adventures, because we really do. But, we are just as happy chilling out at home playing board games, watching movies, and having fun together.
But now it’s September and it’s back to normality. I think this month is going to be pretty simple – we don’t have anything planned yet and are just going to go with the flow and try to get ourselves back into a routine again after all our summer fun.
How was your summer? I’d love to know!
