Coffee. I love my morning cup of coffee. I’m not ashamed to admit that I am like a bear with a sore head from the moment I wake up to the moment I take that first glorious sip. It’s only then that I truly start to wake up and can mentally prepare myself for the day ahead.
Up until very recently, I have been a kettle on, instant coffee in a mug kinda’ gal and, you know, I thought that was okay. We do have a percolator but that has been taking residence in the back of the cupboard for three years now, next to the one person sized cafetiere that is a throw back from my days as a singleton. Good quality coffee was, as far as I was concerned, something you only got in coffee shops and hotels.
But this week I have been testing out the Krups Bean to Cup EA8108 Espresso Machine and yay, praise be to all that is holy in the world of caffeine, I have seen the light. I will never go back to instant coffee again.
COFFEE, THE WAY YOU LIKE IT
The Krups Bean to Cup EA8108 Espresso Machine is, as I discovered, not just a beautiful piece of kit but also incredibly user-friendly and simple to use. It is pretty much good to go straight out of the box. It requires an initial pre-clean, which only takes a minute or so, but once this is complete barista style coffee is just mere moments away.
The very first thing I did after I added coffee beans to the grinder was to choose which strength I would like my coffee to be. There are several different ways in which to pick coffee strength and it’s the combination of these methods that will help produce your ideal cup at the end.
Firstly the grinder setting can be set to either fine, medium or coarse – the finer the grind the stronger and smoother the coffee will be. Next are the strength and volume options. Choose between espresso and double espresso for strength and whatever volume you need and then simply push the button and watch in delight as the coffee pours into your cup.
WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Don’t be fooled by the name though. The Krups Bean to Cup EA8108 Espresso Machine does more than just make espresso – which was a blessing for me as where my husband likes his coffee to be strong and robust I much prefer mine to be of the more mellow, cappuccino variety. And thanks to the steamer attachment it’s just as easy for me to have my cappuccino in the morning as it is for him to have his double espresso. Even the kids can get in on the action as it’s a doddle to whizz up a nice frothy babycino whenever they want, or just to warm up some milk before bedtime.
We have only had the Krups Bean to Cup EA8108 for a few days now but even in this short period of time it has become an essential element of our morning routine and I can’t imagine ever going back to the kettle and jar of instant. I am a total Bean to Cup convert.
Krups very kindly sent me the Bean to Cup Espresso Machine for the purpose of this review but, as always, all words, thoughts and images are my own.
