What a dull, grey week it has been – I’m not actually sure I’ve seen the sun at all this week, we seem to have been shrouded in fog instead. The one positive thing about this weather is that it has given me a good reason to light the wood burner, make hot chocolate and snuggle under blankets (I’m embracing that Hygge feeling as much as possible this month!)
So, aside from embracing cosiness, what else has made my Little Loves list this week?
I made a start on my Good Reads challenge – working my way through the 4th Harry Potter book at the moment. But, the book I want to talk about is one I picked up from the library for the kids to read – yet it turns out it’s me that has fallen in love with it. It’s I am Henry Finch by Alexis Deacon. It was published a couple of years ago so I’m pretty late to the party on this one (no surprise there!), but I’ve been utterly entranced by it all week. Funny how some children’s books do that, isn’t it?
Black Mirror – season 4. We have zoomed through this series this week with just one more episode to go. Each episode has been really good. I think this is my favourite Black Mirror series so far.
After moaning about the lack of good music in 2017 in last weeks Little Loves post I realised I was probably very closed off to the idea of new music last year, so this week I have made a bit of an effort to listen to new releases on the Release Radar playlist on Spotify. And I’m so pleased that I did as it introduced me to YouWouldn’tLikeMeWhenI’mAngry by Thom Yorke, and Skin by LOCKS – two tracks that have now made their way onto my regular playlist.
A start on decluttering the house, and spent most of last Sunday rearranging bedrooms. Over Christmas, it’s fair to say that our bedroom, in particular, was used as a general dumping ground so it was nice to return it to its vaguely calming state.
My Selfish Mother “Mama” Sweatshirt that Rob gave me at Christmas. I’ve been wanting one for such a long time but because I’m very top heavy I was convinced that I was too big for the largest size they do. Turns out I was wrong because it fits!
I have my first gym session in eight weeks today – my first one since I put my back out at the end of November. I am fully expecting to be a complete wreck… but I am also, strangely, looking forward to it too. Wish me luck!
