Good Reads, Dunkirk, and an expanding waistline – Little Loves

It’s fair to say this past couple of weeks have flown by in a haze of wrapping paper, mince pies, Brie, and red wine. And what a lovely haze it was too – by oh boy, by New Year’s Day I was like “Stick a fork in me… I’m done!” So this first week of the new year has been about trying to get some balance back into my daily routine. Here are my first Little Loves of 2018…

I’ve yet to pick up a book this year, but I have set up a Good Reads account and will be taking part in the 2018 reading challenge. I have set myself a target of 12 books, however, I am hoping I will smash that.

We watched Dunkirk at the weekend, and it’s fair to say we were blown away by its brilliance. I was completely engrossed from start to finish and found myself becoming increasingly tenser as the film went on.

I’ve been listening to my Spotify ‘best of 2017’ playlist quite a bit this week – although I am keen to find some new music to listen to this year. I felt that last year I didn’t really ‘discover’ any new music that really caught my attention (aside from Chameleon Days by Neil Finn), more that I was still listening to music from 2016 and earlier.

Spicy Butternut Squash and Parsnip Soup

I bought extra veggies at the weekend as I knew that I would want to make a soup of some variety this week – and this Spicy Butternut Squash & Parsnip Soup was the one I went for. It was just what we needed on a chilly day, and it felt like the healthiest thing I had eaten in days!

Oh, there has been a whole lot of wearing clothes that have elasticated waists as the Christmas holidays went on. It’s definitely time to sort my expanding waistline out!

And Lastly

I’m looking forward to a daytime date with my husband on Saturday to go see The Last Jedi at the cinema. I don’t know how but we have managed to avoid ALL spoilers so far – it’s quite amazing!

As usual, I’m linking up with Morgana at Coffee Work Sleep Repeat for Little Loves:

I really enjoyed Dunkirk! This is my 5th year of setting myself a reading challenge on Goodreads, good luck with yours! Happy new year.

I can’t believe I’ve still not seen Dunkirk, part of it was filmed close by so for days there were a lot of teenage girls searching for Harry Styles on location. The soup looks delicious, I always make a big batch at the weekend and I like the flavour of yours. Enjoy the Last Jedi we still need to take Little Man to see it.

Yay, Star Wars is awesome. We finally saw it last night, spoiler free, and were sure we were the only people who hadn’t seen it yet. Good luck with your Goodreads Challenge. I love that site/app 🙂

I love the new year and with it coming the new plans and goals for everyone. Its motivating and inspiring to start with a fresh page and write the year ahead as we go along. Sounds like you had a great holiday festive period. Happy New Year. #littleloves

Happy new year! I think most posts this week are of a similar Christmassy and new year theme! Good luck with the reading challenge! And I haven’t heard anyone mention the film Dunkirk but sounds good. How was Harry styles in it? Hehe. That soup looks delicious xx #littleloves

I’ve got the same reading ambitions this year, and have just set up a GoodReads account too. Fingers crossed it keeps me on track! The soup looks delicious!

I’ve been opting for elasticated waistbands too! I wore skinny jeans today, and oh boy, that was a shock to the system!!
Everything I’ve read about Dunkirk makes me desperate to see it. I must watch it this weekend.
Thanks for joining in with Littleloves, hope this week has been a good one. xx
