The Easter holidays are now over and, typically, we had poor weather all but two, admittedly glorious, days. Storm Katie battered us while we were visiting family in Hertfordshire, which meant that we had to hunker down and make the most of our time indoors. There was a lot of Lego construction and Monopoly playing going on, but in between these times we also enjoyed watching some films and children’s shows on NOW TV. One show that got a big thumbs up from my Four year old was SpongeBob SquarePants. He loves both of the films and will often ask to watch it but, until recently, the cartoon episodes just haven’t been available to watch on a catch up service. I wish I could have shown a photo of the kiddies watching SpongeBob but the weather was so appalling that the lighting just wasn’t good enough for a photo.
However all that has changed, as SpongeBob SquarePants can now be viewed on the Nickelodon channel with the NOW TV Entertainment pass. When M saw that SpongeBob was available he was as happy as a lamb. So, in between our Lego sessions popped on a couple of episodes here and there, when we all fancied a bit of ‘down time’. Even G has enjoyed watching it, and with her ever developing vocabulary, has asked to watch ‘cheese sponge boy’ a few times too!
I will admit that R and I don’t really let the kiddies watch too much tv during the week – and if we do we would prefer to pop on a Disney film instead, but I can completely see the appeal of SpongeBob SquarePants, and will happily let them watch it when they want a bit of a tv treat – it’s loud, it’s colourful, the humour appeals to kiddies (and big adult shaped kiddies too, as I have found myself snorting with laughter on a few occasions too!), and it’s just a whole lot of fun.
The lovely folks at NOW TV and Nickelodeon sent a little SpongeBob shaped treat to M last week, in the form a goodie bag jam packed with posters, SpongeBob Megablox figures, badges and a cup. It’s fair to say he was in SpongeBob heaven when he received it. There was even a SpongeBob SquarePants bath sponge that G commandeered for herself, and she can be found cuddling ‘cheesy sponge boy’ most days.
We’ve been NOW TV customers for over three years now, and I really cannot recommend them enough. Having Nickelodeon as part of the Entertainment package with NOW TV has been a blessing recently, as we don’t have the family bundle with our SKY TV package. NOW TV is such a versatile platform to use – no contract, so you can cancel whenever you want, and they have a huge variety of shows from all of the channels you get from Sky TV, as well as over 250 box sets, which means you are guaranteed to find something that will appeal to each and every member of the family. The NOW TV entertainment package is exceptionally good value for money too at only £6.99 per month.

However, I have been subscribing to their movies and entertainment passes long before I became a member of the Blog Squad, as I really do think it is the best streaming service available.
